Review

"Anything is possible in this world of cloaks and daggers. A strong beginning that will leave readers hungry for more." - Kirkus Reviews"Mather (How to Hang a Witch, 2016) has built a dark, intriguing universe. Between the boarding-school setting, the lessons in espionage, and the murder mystery, there's plenty to grab readers, and with the door open for sequels, they're bound to stay on the hook." - Booklist"November is just ordinary enough for readers to identify with and just talented and knowledgeable enough to inspire awe. Full of danger and intrigue, this series opener establishes a fascinating premise with an international cast of tenuous allies and ambiguous adversaries that will keep our heroine, and her readers, on a knife's edge." - Bulletin

Such an amazing book. I love everything from Adriana Mather and did not think i could love a book more than her HTHAW, but this book has it beat. Adriana went to great books to absolutely outdoing herself with a fantastic book. I cant wait to read more and really hope there will be another book.

5 hours and 17 minutes.... what a short time to be in the world of Academy Absconditi, I was lucky enough to be part of the ARC for this book and what a great adventure ! I was drawn in within the first chapter, November is a great character and I am so in love with Ash, no matter what ! As with her other books, Adriana Mather was able to create characters so relatable and believable they were like old friends. I find myself wondering who I would be in the Academy and what alliances I would form, I can’t wait for book 2 so I can catch up with November and friends.

Okay so I can't even begin to describe how much I love this book. I am someone who typically does not read thriller type books but "Killing November" has changed my mind. I was able to participate in the ARC of this beautiful novel and now find myself so sad I must wait for the next installment. The character development, the plot, the twists, and the romance make this a must read. I found myself thinking about the story and where it goes from here. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone!!

The moment I started reading this book I didn't want to put it down! Adriana Mather is by far one of my favorite authors, and produces consistently great books. Killing November is full of action and there's never a dull moment. Its well written and you can tell she worked really hard to get all the details correct! I can't wait to read it again!

I loved this book!!!!!!!! I could not put it down. Had it not been for work I would have finished it in like a day. Lol but I love her other two books how to hang a witch and haunting the deep. So I already knew I would love it. The book just sucks you in and you won’t want to put it down. I highly recommend this book and her other two as well.

Intrigue, danger, suspense and more. This book really delivers.

Nothing sells me on a book quite like finding out it's set at a boarding school. And when there is murder at that boarding school? Oh I'm sold up the river. So I dove into Killing November by Adriana Mather, out now, and it definitely wasn't the typical boarding school book, but I was intrigued. November wakes up at Academy Absconditi after her father sends her off to school, and it becomes clear quite quickly that she is in over her head. A school that's so off the grid she doesn't have any idea what continent it is on? No electricity? An eye-for-an-eye punishment? Speechless guards? Poisons classes? Yikes. It becomes clear pretty quickly that November is missing the crucial information about what the Academy does: train the Families. The Families, as you'll discover, are something between royalty and the mob, with ties to leaders, assassinations, history mysteries, and more. But what November doesn't realize is her interconnected her own story is with the Families and how far people will go to stand up for their Family. November's roommate Layla is a brilliant enigma, her twin brother Ash is too charming. Someone punches November in the face on her first day, and within a week, there's a dead body outside her door. This boarding school is unlike anything else, and as November begins to unlock its secrets and understand the alliances that ripple through it, it becomes clear that someone is out for blood. Hers. I was a little skeptical of this book as I dove in, mostly because it seemed a bit "mob-ish" but I ended up getting into it. Some characters are way more interesting than others, and I didn't really "feel" November's naivete that kept being mentioned, but I was intrigued. I wish I had more of a conversation with November and her Dad before she showed up at the Academy, because I didn't feel like she cared about him at all even as it became clear his life was probably in danger. And who the heck was Emily? All the flashbacks woven in were a distraction from the main story, included only to "show" how November was primed for the Family stuff before arriving at the Academy. However, I still enjoyed the story overall. The Family dynamic was interesting, and I loved the little history lessons woven through. Cool strategy talk, for example. I'm looking forward to the next book, even though it seems like it will go in a very different direction and raises questions about why exactly November had to go to the Academy in the first place.Â

What a treasure this book is! Watching Charles Schulz mature as an artist and writer over the first two years of his Sunday strips is a mesmerizing process. About half way through, a year of Sunday strips, he has hit his stride and the characters are defined as we understand them today, 50 years later. His power is his ability to do a multitude of things at once, with the simple Sunday comic medium. He takes very simple drawings and deals with not only the big philosophical issue of life, but he also develops the characters so keenly that we just KNOW them, and at the same time he lets us laugh. We laugh not at the characters, but at ourselves. And of course, somehow in the middle of all of this, we may realize that we are really reading about Charles Schulz himself. This book is a wonderful gift for a child, a budding comic artist, an adult of any age, or for yourself. The joy of reading Sunday comics is gone now in the age of the internet and mostly iPad-delivered newspapers. Countless comic strip writers after Schulz were influenced by his artistry and writing. Schulz elevated the comic strip medium to a serious art form, much in the way that Eisner and Spiegelman elevated the graphic novel. The book is a little expensive, but it is an incredible value. This book itself is exhibit A in why it is wonderful to own both e-books and paper books! The paper is so thick and solid that none of the colors bleed through. The reproductions of the strips are perfectly clean- not even a tiny bit of offset error as was so common in the Sunday rag. Finally, the colors pop and are solid, letting you effectively see what the strip looked like on Schulz's drafting table. The essays before and after the actual strips are not boilerplate; they add value and increase enjoyment of the book.A treasure!

One of the best collections. Schulz hit his stride even as early as 1959-1961 period this is based upon. The cast of characters look like themselves (unlike the early 1950s versions which were almost poor caricatures of what they became).50+ years on and the strips are still delightful, putting smiles on our faces, and even the occasional laugh aloud. As my father notes, Schulz could do wonders with just a line here or there! There are some amazing strips involving Snoopy... and some of the themes that occur for years are already here--e.g., Snoopy vs. Linus and the blanket. It's almost guaranteed that you won't remember many of them, so they will be absolutely fresh-- and, for those you do remember, it's like visiting your favorite park, seeing old friends, or remembering a funny story that happened to you or one of your friends.

I was a huge peanuts fan as a kid. And I had a lot of the books. Eventually, I got out of the phase, but when the movie was released, I found myself going back in. I loved peanuts as a child, and it is still my favorite. I love the old school peanuts, when snoopy was a cute little pup and patty, violet, shermy were bigger characters. I love when the series started and the kids were really little. Lucy was there, but she wasn't as in your face as she is today. Schroder and Linus were babies, and things were a lot different. I think the earliest peanuts strips were the best, and this book is a great representation of those strips. There are some really funny stories here...like about bare soup and dolly abuse. If you're a peanuts fan, or hoping to get your kid into the series, the first three books in the reprinted series are the best!

I don't know about you, but I LOVE seeing the Peanuts comics as they were MEANT to be read -- in all their gigantic glory. If you're like me and wish that newspapers still actually gave space to comics, and you're a fan of Peanuts, then THIS is the collection for you.I don't feel much need to go into the content. Who isn't familiar with Peanuts?I'm already collecting the Complete Peanuts series from Fantagraphics. They're great collections, but the Sundays aren't in color, and the comics aren't in their original size. So this book, also the first in a series, makes things right!Yeah, the books are huge, as some others have said, but if you're a fan, you'll make the space for this important collection.

I ordered this set with high expectations, having been collecting "The Complete Peanuts" from the same publisher. This giant-format, beautifully-colored edition of Sundays surpasses my hopes in every regard. The quality of the content is brilliant, of course -- and we get to see Lucy and Linus as toddlers! The most striking thing apart from the actual strips is that it is *very* evident that a lot of care and love went into the production of this volume. A tremendous value. Can't wait for the next one!

Excellent treasury of classic sunday newspaper comics. If you liked reading these years ago you will enjoy revisiting them again. The color is beautiful and richer than the originals.
