The book that was sent was the wrong one but, The dealer "PROMPTLY" refunded all the money and allowed me to keep the book! "NICE" The book I ordered was a scholastic reference book. The hard copy was higher priced, bulkier, and with too much extra reference material. But all the same the book worked and I'm happy with the cost of it, NOTHING!!! THANK YOU AMAZON

In many pursuits, timing is a key. Here in 2008, in my state, where I perform most (not all) of my work in the electrical trade, a journeyman's license exam is based on the 2002 National Electrical Code (NEC). I learned about the NEC Handbook, while I was gathering study materials in preparation for my exam. Of course, newer editions are in circulation; and a neighboring state where I also work and need a license, indicated that they base the exam on a later NEC edition. With those differences, the changes incorporated over three different series of the Code, it became a matter of budget for me, as well as ensuring I'd reviewed all the material. I was pleased, that with a little hunting, I found an earlier publication, used but in very good condition, in stock through Amazon. This NEC Handbook is well-written, with very clear illustrations, to clarify and amplify the minutiae (text and tables) that comprise the NEC. Everyone has a way by which they learn most effectively. For me, sometimes when certain concepts are illustrated, it helps me to better understand and apply a certain rule from the Code. I recommend this book!

I am desk jockey who does electrical design work. I have little in-the-field electrical experience. I use the NEC codes frequently to make sure what I design is code-compliant. I have a copy of the standard 1999 NEC book and found many parts of it difficult to interpret. This new "handbook" version has answered all of the questions and uncertainties I had about the code. It has an illustration and explanation for just about every question I could think of. Even when I don't need a certain thing, I have found myself leafing through the book just to learn more.I would recommend this to anyone, but especially engineer types or those who are inexperienced. I feel much more confident about my job and I don't have to ask electricans those questions that make you feel stupid anymore. Even master electricians will appreciate the explanations of code changes from the 1999 version. Overall, I can't recommend this book more, well worth the $50 or so more than the standard NEC book.

A beautifully written, researched and printed book, On Trails truly grooved a path in my heart. I have long enjoyed hiking in the mountains around my city and now find myself contemplating the trail, thinking about the makers, the other walkers, and the course of history and time that shaped these paths. Moor is a wonderful storyteller and researcher. I reread many chapters and looked up a few beautiful words I wished to understand better. I am glad to know more about some of the history of the United States trail system, and how that connects us to the broader world, both geographically and as fellow travelers. Although I will likely never have the opportunity to hike the Appalachian Trail, this book definitely planted an interesting little seed in me; I'm intrigued to see what spouts from it. Thanks, Robert Moor, for the inspiring exploration.

Fascinating books are often the products of an author taking a look at regular stuff from a perspective wildly different from the rest of us! Clearly this is the case with Robert Moor's On Trails: An Exploration.It isn't at all what I expected—it's a lot better! This book is an exploration of the trail as a planet-wide phenomenon; the trail's impact on science, animals, us, and the earth herself. Here, the trail becomes a metaphor for just about everything else. In "On Trails" we follow all sorts of paths ranging from traces left by an early life form hundreds of millions of years ago, to philosophical constructs about the physical and philosophical differences we Homo Sapiens give trails and paths: "...the difference between a trail and a path is directional: paths extend forward, whereas trails extend rearward." Paths..."are lines projected forward in space by the intellect... by contrast, trails tend to form in reverse, messily, from the passage of dirty feet."It is a well-written book that will resonate with you if your brain works like mine—that is to say, a mind that is curious and wants to take a closer look at things.On Trails: An Exploration, is a neatly tied bundle of those wild ideas we dream up when leaning back against the pack near the summit of a peak 4 days out from the nearest road. While it probably didn't happen this way, On Trails makes me wonder if the author, after wandering about in the green world carrying a heavy backpack for a couple of weeks, sat down all hot and sweaty, peeled off his socks in a moment of sheer ecstasy, then turned and asked, in the finest of non sequitur traditions, "Do you want to know the difference between a trail and a path?" Indeed!

As I expected, this book goes far afield (pun intended) from just human trails. Trails was just a great excuse to write a book about all sorts of subjects related to trails and various animal behaviors. The writing style is casual and fun. While his interest in trails was the result of having done the Appalachian Trial, he goes back to the primordial ooze for the first trails, and explores everything you could ever want to know about trails, and then some, from ant trails, to elephant an zebra trails, to how the road system effectively followed old Indian trails. Near the end of the book, he kept coming to what seemed like a logical place to end the book, but over and over again he would find new avenues to explore, so it was like a series of false summits. But in aggregate, it was a very interesting and worthwhile book to read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this fantastic book! I loved the parts about hiking and walking, which is really my main interest, but On Trails is about so much more. Robert makes connections across disparate contexts that make you think about things, about the interconnectedness of things and about trails and paths and how they may lead where they go (including my own life path). The book is well written and flows naturally. One of my more enjoyable reads in a long time.

When a tale is advertised as a short story, and priced accordingly, it is probably not fair to be overly harsh. I suppose the story is more than a teaser and serves a purpose. I think the publisher is trying to attract new readers.In that sense, “The Christmas Scorpion” by Lee Child might have been a huge success, except for my point at the end of this review.POV: Third person.BLUSH FACTOR: No worries here. No profanities.SUSPENSE: Some suspense. Not edge-of-the-seat though.THE WRITING: The best writing is the first two and last three pages. Which is not to say the writing throughout isn’t good. Like many of the other reviewers, I've read every bit of Lee Child available. I often look at November as "New Reacher month."This short story was just trash. Many of us have purchased Reacher short stories in the past. This is not the same. This is written more like a fan is trying their hand at writing for the first time... and they've got 30 minutes or less to complete a story. There is no richness of detail, no character development, no careful weaving of the plot (and yes, all of these are present in previous Reacher short stories).Bottom line, if I read something supposedly by an author I've read dozens of titles from and come away thinking *I* could have written that better, it's a problem.I know it is just $2, but unless you've literally read everything else authored by Lee Child *and* are slightly OCD in your need to be a completist, skip this entirely.

Very short story. No real Reacher style. Disappointing in all aspects. Usually his short stories are longer but this one did even begin to form some coherent thoughts.

It’s a short story so wasn’t expecting much, but this is just pointless to read. There’s not even enough to build any plot or get any enjoyment. And on top of it had to pay for this. Disappointed.

Seriously?!? I'll be much more careful in the future, about purchases from Mr. Child. Was he running short on money and needing a quick infusion? Save your money; you won't be missing a thing!!!!!

Give me a break. I really enjoy Lee Child's work but this was a complete and total rip-off. Each of these short stories gets worse. I really look forward to this author's work but am upset that at this point in his successful career he would treat his fans with this level of disrespect.

I really wanted to love this book. I started of page 2 and got part of the way through to find that there are duplicate numbers and missing numbers. This book needs to go through quality assurance. I will be returning this book as a defective item.

I was so excited for this that I pre-ordered it last month. It came today and I was so disappointed. The dot to dots are on both sides of the paper and the paper is super thin. Also most dots have two or more numbers assigned to them which becomes very confusing.

I would give this 5 stars, but, there are missing numbers, extra numbers or missing dots on every page. The detail is grate. Yes most dots have several numbers, but I don't have a problem with that, it does get difficult when you're drawing lines through numbers you haven't used yet. I would recommend this to others, there are 104 dot to dots.

I buy a lot of Dot to Dot books, and usually they’re all pretty uniform. This book style is completely different. There are no preforated pages, and the pages are printed back-to-back.The ‘Connect 1000 Dots on Every Page’ is deceiving as most dots share numbers, and this makes connecting even more confusing.The Star Wars Dot to Dot is exactly like this one, and I’m planning to return it.

Idk why everyone found this so difficult but it's easy after you're first one. Lots of backtracking your lines so you're making a legitimate detailed picture and not an outline, nor do you have to connect only 3 dots before starting a new one which would be far more complicated. Beautiful finished products. I've done a few and used gel pens which looked great.

If you wear glasses do not buy this product. After showing this book to four adult friends none of us could read the numbers in blue ink. I even tried doing it with a magnifying glass and it was still impossible. Beyond frustrating. Do not buy this product. I have never said that in a review on Amazon before.

Poorly thought out. The Dot-to-Dot books by Thomas Pavitte are SOOOOOO much better than these. Having them on front and back of page makes half of the items unusable. Major disappointment.

My 3 year old loves the Gakken workbooks. This one in particular has some easy pages and some challenging pages as well (see pictures) that she needs help with. But overall the workbooks are fun to do!

Arrived quickly in great shape. Wonderful book for eager-to-learn children.

Really cute book with heavy pages and nice illustrations. My son enjoys the activities.
